Check these every time
- Numbers and statistics — find the original source, not a blog quoting it.
- Names, titles and companies — spelled right and still current.
- Quotes — said by that person, in those words.
- Dates and “latest” claims — still true today.
- Links — open each one and confirm it says what you claim.
- Product features and prices — checked on the official page.
Treat these as red flags
- Very precise numbers with no source
- Studies described without a name or year
- Quotes that sound too perfect
- Anything that would be embarrassing if wrong
When you cannot verify it
Cut it or soften it to what you can stand behind. “Many small businesses miss calls after hours” is weaker than a statistic — and much stronger than a statistic that turns out to be invented.
